Easy Desserts: How to Make Soft Serve or Frozen Yogurt without an Ice Cream Maker

Even though it’s winter and we are searching for warmer desserts, here is a recipe I will make all year round … it’s my 4-Minute Strawberry Soft Serve or Frozen Yogurt from my book  4 Ingredients Kids in colour. An delicious dessert for all the family, which I can’ t begin to tell you how easy this divine desserts tastes!

Ice-Cream is a great "fruit Smuggler." Have you ever struggled with trying to introduce more fruits into your children's diet? Recently, I was approach by a mother who was struggling with her children to eat a wider range of fruits. She ate fruit but for some unknown reason, their father would only eat one type of fruit. So I told her … try making my 4-Minute Strawberry Soft Serve! It’s a brilliant recipe and an excellent way to encourage children with trying out different fruit. The flavours for this recipe are endless; raspberry, mango, blueberries and for a lighter version, substitute cream for your children favourites yogurt. After many this recipe and trying it out, I am very pleased to report, she has now introduced Mangoes and Blueberries into their diet.

4 Minute Soft Serve Ice-Cream – Recipe from 4 Ingredients KIDS Cookbook

I don’t have an ice-cream machine, so for me this recipe is brilliant!

•   275g frozen strawberries

•  1⁄4 cup (50g) caster sugar

•  2⁄3 cup (160ml) cream

• 1⁄4 teaspoon vanilla

Combine the frozen strawberries and sugar in a food processor or blender. Process until the fruit is roughly chopped. Add the cream and vanilla and blend until combined. Serve immediately as a delectable soft serve, or freeze for at least 4 hours for a nice firm ice-cream.

Optional: The flavours for this are endless; raspberry, mango, blueberries and for a lighter version, substitute cream for your kid’s favourite yoghurt.

Shopping Tip:

On a recent visit to supermarket freezer section, I noticed frozen mango are now available! My youngest son adores Mangoes – so you can imagine my delight to discover frozen mango in 1KG packs, chopped up into small pieces. One of my other boys really loves strawberries and another blueberries, so if your family is anything like mine, I’ll quite often make different flavours in larger batches and freeze! This saves me time and money (I buy the bulk packs) and on hand, I have a ready supply of delicious and easy dessert for everyone to enjoy at another time.
